Trenčín - the European Capital of Culture 2026
You do not have to be a cultural freak to take an opportunity/challenge to visit the European Capital of Culture 2026. Trenčín is a charming town in western Slovakia known mostly for its majestic castle and probably the best summer festival Pohoda. Of course it is more than that. And there will be more to come in 2026!
Awakening curiosity. With this slogan, a motivated local team of Trenčín 2026 has ambitions to upgrade the vibe and identity of this regional capital by bringing exciting cultural activities. Probably there was no better time to be curious and to visit Trenčín and its region than now.
Where is Trenčín?
The town lies by the Váh river in western Slovakia, surrounded by hills of the Carpathian mountain range. Trenčín is easily accessible by train or by car from Bratislava in less than 1,5 hours. There is a direct train from the Slovak capital every 30 minutes.
